BREAKING NEWS — Possible tornado activity near Coolspring

COOLSPRING — Jefferson County 911 dispatched the Oliver Township Fire Company to its station around 3:05 p.m. Monday for possible tornado activity in the area.

The 911 center said lines and trees were down in the area of St. John's Road. Reports said a tornado did indeed touch down, although there were no reports from the 911 center confirming it.

Other reports said a tornado had also touched down near New Bethlehem prior to the call in Oliver Township. Those reports were also unconfirmed.

Jefferson County was placed under a severe thunderstorm warning until 3:45 p.m. Monday, and was among those placed under a severe storm watch until 10 p.m. Monday by the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh.
