Boyd A. Ferringer, Jr., 83

Boyd A. Ferringer, Jr., 83, of Fairmount City, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, at Golden Living in Clarion.

He was born Feb. 26, 1930, in Fairmount City, a son of the late Boyd A. and Naomi Ruth (Smith) Ferringer, Sr.

Mr. Ferringer served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was very proud to have served his country.

On April 29, 1960, he married the former, Martha Jean Bracken. She survives.

He was a member of the Oakland Church of God.

Boyd previously worked for Crawford Furniture, Bracken's Construction and Clarion Homes.

His enjoyments were visiting his grandchildren and family. He liked to play guitar and horseshoes.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Shanon B. Ferringer of Fairmount City and Janis M. Myers and husband Curt of Kylertown; six grandchildren, Cory and Natalie Ferringer, Curtis Myers Jr. and Thor, Chance and Conner Myers; four great-grandchildren, Jonathon, Aaron, T.J. and Tristan; one brother, Harrold Ferringer and wife Ruthann of Mayport; two sisters-in-laws, Mary Ferringer of Hawthorn and Shirley Ferringer of Mayport; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ray, Harry and Howard Ferringer; and two sisters, Hilda Nafkezer and Sylvia Kifer.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, at Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Big Run.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at the funeral home officiated by Pastor Jimmy Swogger.

Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Clover Run.

Memorial donations may be made in Boyd's memory to St. Jude Children’s Research or to Feed the Children.
