PUNXSUTAWNEY — Sewer relocation work will proceed ahead of the Elk Run Route 119 bridge replacement project, which is scheduled to begin this summer after school has let out.

Punxsutawney Borough Council received an update on the Route 119 and 310 intersection road construction project during Monday’s council meeting.

“The sewer line has been revised and reviewed with the borough and sent on to PennDOT for review,” said Ben White, Punxsutawney Borough manager.
White said major work on the bridge and detour will not start until June.

“Palo Construction, the contractor for the project, is planning on doing part of the sewer line relocation this month or in May, ahead of the beginning of the bridge construction, using temporary bypasses,” White said, adding that this would involve a one-lane traffic restriction for short periods of time.
