Borough adds three new part-time officers to staff

February 11, 2014

PUNXSUTAWNEY — It wasn't unanimous, but Punxsutawney Borough Council hired three new part-time police officers at Monday's meeting.

Punxsutawney Mayor Richard Alexander said for the new shift schedule to work, he needs to have three part-time police officers.

"We have three right now, but one is going back to his permanent job next month, one only works once a year to keep his MOPEC number current, and the other only works on weekends," Alexander said, adding that, currently, there's one full-time police officer who is off for medical reasons.
