The 403rd CONUS (contiguous United States) Replacement Company was inactivated — removed from active military status — at the Maj. Charles D. Stoops United States Army Reserve Center in Punxsutawney on Sunday at 1400 hours, otherwise known as 2 p.m.

A member of the Punxsutawney community for 59 years, the 403rd Replacement Co. has supported Groundhog Day festivities for the past 10 years.

1SG Brenda Byars offered up some insights into her experience, saying “I have been here for seven years; it has been a great experience working with the same people. We are such a tight-knit family. This really is an exceptional unit. Unfortunately, this is the last time we will work together, but it has been great.”
