Beverly G. Mazik, 73

Beverly G. Mazik, 73, Brookville, went to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her family at home.

She was born Sept. 13, 1937, in Wilkins Township, a daughter of the late Arthur and Edna Geyer.

She was the beloved wife of Thomas C. Mazik, who survives. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 10, 2010.

Mrs. Mazik was a faithful servant of God who enjoyed sharing her faith in many ways. She served as an organist for the Penn Hills Free Methodist Church, as well as the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, and she attended church at the McGregor Baptist Church in Florida. She also had a strong desire to help others.

Mrs. Mazik enjoyed spending time with her many friends at her second home in Florida.

Most important of all to Mrs. Mazik was her family. She loved to spend time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchild.

In addition to her husband, surviving relatives include five children, Andrea Smith and husband Steve of Williamsburg, Va., Janel Bowser and husband John of Brookville, Darin Mazik and wife Becky of Brookville, Jennifer Heckman and husband Jeff of Brockway, and Stephen Mazik and wife Heather of Strattanville; 12 grandchildren, Jonathan, Andrew, and Hunter Smith, Amanda, Tiara and Christian Tetlow, Thomas Bowser, Maddison and Jordan Walter, Leven Mazik, and Clayton and Madalynne Heckman; a great-grandchild, Avalee Sheakley; two sisters, Ethel Beahm and husband Charles of Rochelle, Va., Karen Wollerton and husband Jack of Harmony; and a brother, Charles Geyer of Pittsburgh.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, at the Furlong Funeral Home, Summerville, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at the church with the Rev. Roger Howard officiating.

Interment will follow in the West View Cemetery, Clover Township.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Asera Care Hospice or Jefferson County EMS.
