Beulah Wetzel Hawk, 93

Beulah Wetzel Hawk, 93, lovingly touched the face of Jesus as He carried her to Heaven from Mountain View Regional Medical Center, Norton, Va., Monday, Jan. 17, 2011.

She was born March 18, 1917, in Banks Township, a daughter of the late James Ray and Mary Odessa (Cessna) Wetzel.

She was married to Lester W. Hawk, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Hawk had been a resident of Norton since June 1953 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Norton where she had served as a deacon, choir member, board member, teacher and a member of various committees until her health began to decline.

Surviving relatives include her six loving children, Lorena Hawk Duncan of Bristol, Tenn., Dennis Hawk and wife Merline of Bountiful, Utah, Judy Fletcher Bates and husband Bob of Norton, Gary Hawk and wife Carolyn of Bluff City, Tenn., Howard Hawk and wife Margie of York, S.C., and Susan Edwards Roark and husband David of Bristol; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Freida Tyger of Saint Marys; and a brother, Harold Wetzel and wife Helen of New Castle.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011, at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home, Norton.

A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 21, 2011, at the First Baptist Church of Norton, Virginia Avenue, with the Rev. Gwen Owens and the Rev. Ken Taylor officiating. 

Interment will follow at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial gifts be sent to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 499, Norton, Va. 24273, or the Church of the Good Shepherd, P.O. Box 1011, Norton, Va. 24273.
