Betty Lou Carr, 64

Betty Lou Carr, 64, of Punxsutawney, passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Carr was born Oct. 4, 1948, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Clyde E. Dinger and Mary Ellen (Lettie) Dinger.

Sept. 10, 1966, she married her husband, Darl P. Carr, who survives, of Punxsutawney.

Betty Lou was a member of the Dora Evangelical Church.

She was a 1966 graduate of Punxsutawney High School, a tax collector for Porter Township and an EMT for the Ringgold and Perry Township Volunteer Fire Companies.

She also took an active part in the American Cancer Society.

In addition to her husband, Darl, surviving relatives include a daughter, Darla Duke and husband Brock of Punxsutawney; two sons, Duane Carr of Home and Dean Carr and wife Dayna of Quakertown; a sister, Nancy Holmes and husband David of Falls Creek; two granddaughters, Megan and Danielle Duke; two grandsons, Isiah and Darren Carr; and two nieces, April Stewart and husband Joseph and Adrienne Stiteler and husband Chad.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

Additional viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of the service, on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Dora Evangelical Church with the Rev. Kenneth Alt officiating.

Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Church in Porter.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Carr's name to the Cancer Care Fund at 81 Hillcrest Dr., Punxsutawney, PA 15767.
