Betty L. (Caldwell) Frantz, 90

Betty L. (Caldwell) Frantz, 90, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012, in Colorado Springs, Colo., where she had resided for the last 39 years.

She was born Jan. 9, 1922, in Punxsutawney, and she was always a proud daughter of Punxsutawney.

Sept. 5, 1948, she married Robert Frantz, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Frantz graduated from high school in 1938 and became a certified teacher in 1940, then a registered nurse in 1943. 

In 1944, she entered the U.S. Army as a general nurse and served as a flight nurse from 1945 to 1947. 

After raising their children, Mrs. Frantz was recertified as a nurse in 1975 and worked with the elderly in Colorado Springs until her retirement in 1994. 

Surviving relatives include a son, Robert and wife Marie; a brother, James M. Caldwell; and a brother-in-law, the Rev. Scott Frantz.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Elizabeth.
