Betty Jane Harriger, 81

Betty Jane Harriger, 81, Sigel, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

She was born Sept. 10, 1931, in Smethport, Pa., a daughter of the late Robert B. Miles and Valeria Smith Miles.

Nov. 18, 1948, in Sigel, she married James B. Harriger, who survives.

Betty was retired as an elementary teacher from the Brookville Area School District.

She was a member of the Sigel United Methodist Church, and a retired
member of the PSEA.

Her love of antiques developed into a business, Betty Jane's Antiques, which she operated for many years.

In addition to her husband, surviving relatives include a son, Dan Harriger (Patrice) of Millville, Pa.; two daughters, Cheryl Ploucha (Ron) of Punxsutawney and Penny Geer (Fred) of Sigel; a sister, Alice Jones Schnepp of Dexter, Ore.; five grandchildren, Brad Geer, April Oleson, Heather Reed, Chantelle Colinet and Matt Harriger; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Ted Harriger; and two brothers, Robert and John Miles.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at the McKinney Funeral Home, Brookville.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2013, at the funeral home with the Rev. Gary Sheesley officiating.

Interment will be at Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Sigel.
