Betty J. Pounds, 87, Marion Center, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at St. Andrew’s Village, Indiana.

She was born April 6, 1924, in Jackson Township, Cambria County.

Jan. 23, 1943, she married her husband, Paul R. Pounds Sr. Their 69th wedding anniversary was the day of her death.

Mrs. Pounds worked at Miller’s Market in Marion Center until her retirement.

In her spare time, she liked to crochet afghans and enjoyed flower gardening. She was also a very talented cook.

Mrs. Pounds was well known for her colorful sense of humor.

 In addition to her husband, surviving relatives include three children, Paula Dilts and husband Bob of Georgeville, Pamela Conner and husband Larry of Cherry Tree, and Paul “Bo” Pounds Jr. of Indiana; three grandchildren, Roberts Dilts Jr. and wife Connie, Heather Zielmanski and husband Kevin, and Bethany Cassidy and husband Chance; and three great-grandchildren, Cenneca and Zane Dilts and Teegan Taylor Cassidy.

She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Pounds.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, at the Rairigh Funeral Home Ltd. in Hillsdale.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, with Pastor Clayton Harriger officiating.

Private family interment will be held at the Marion Center Cemetery.
