Betty J. Hill, 89

Betty J. Hill, 89, of Punxsutawney, formerly of Shawville, passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at DuBois Nursing Home.

Mrs. Hill was born May 19, 1923, in Woodland, Pa., a daughter of the late Harold Stephens and Fannie (Maines) Stephens.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack C. Hill Sr.

Mrs. Hill was a member of the First Church of God in Punxsutawney.

She loved and adored her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all children.

She was very instrumental in Kid's Camp in Dillsburg and was a youth leader most of her life.

She loved quilting, crosswords and handiwork.

Surviving relatives include a son, Jack C. Hill and wife Elizabeth of Bloomfield, Mich.; two daughters, Ann Grube and husband Doug of Punxsutawney and Deb Lavery and husband Terry of Girard; a sister, Kitty Heichel and husband Blair of Clearfield; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at the funeral home with Pastor Wayne Anderson officiating.

Private interment will follow at Circle Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Hill's
name to the Student Educational Scholarship Fund at the First Church of God.
