Betty E. Myers, 87

Betty E. Myers, 87, Worthville, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at McKinley Health Center in Brookville.

She was born Oct. 18, 1925, in Rural Valley, Pa., a daughter of the late Charles Shaffer and Alma Glontz Shaffer.

On March 31, 1946, in Worthville, she married Harry I. “Cal” Myers, who survives. They were married for 67 years.

Betty worked at Sylvania in Brookville, as a waitress at Ruth & Harry’s Restaurant in Punxsutawney, and also as a caregiver and nurse’s aid at Blose-McGregor Nursing Home in Punxsutawney.

She was a member of the Ringgold United Methodist Church, and she enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking and especially her family, whom she loved very much.

In addition to her husband, surviving relatives include one son, Tim Myers (Jane) of Punxsutawney; one son-in-law, Doug Powell of Mayport; one brother, Jim Shaffer (Darlene) of Oliveburg; two sisters, Pauline Hartman of Tamarac, Fla., and Willavene Dobson of New Castle, Pa.; three grandchildren, Erica Mingle (Ed) of Punxsutawney, Marci Reitz (Adam) of Mayport, and Charley Powell (Jaci) of Mayport; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Chuck Myers; and a daughter, Roxie Powell.

Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at McKinney Funeral Home, Brookville.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at the funeral home with Pastor Joan Rousseaux officiating.

Interment will be at Worthville Cemetery in Ringgold.
