Bertha M. Dubensky, 92

Bertha M. Dubensky, 92, Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born Jan. 29, 1920, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Antonio and Angelina Fernichio, and was the last surviving member of her family.

On June 5, 1937, she married Fred Dubensky, who preceded her in death on April 30, 1996.

She was a member of SS.C.D. Church.

Mrs. Dubensky worked as a supervisor at Punxsutawney Sportswear for 24 years and retired after 50 years as Judge of Elections for the Board of Elections.

She enjoyed bingo and cooking.

Mrs. Dubensky was involved in many organizations, such as the Beta Sorority; the Lindsey Fire Company Ladies’ Auxiliary; American Red Cross bloodmobiles; Catholic Daughters of America; SS.C.D. Lenten dinners; SS.C.D. Altar Rosary Society; Princess Marie Lodge; volunteering at Ss. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church; Punxsy spring clean-up; Grandmothers' Club; and the Red Hat Society.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Carolyn Heitzenrater of Reynoldsville and Jeannie Dubensky of New York City; a son, Ted Dubensky and wife Karen of Punxsutawney; four grandchildren, Brian Heitzenrater, Chris Dubensky, Dana Kerr and husband Dan, and Carrie Savage and husband Chris; and four great-grandchildren, Keeley and Griffin Dubensky, Carter Savage and Jace Kerr.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, T.F. Dubensky; five brothers, Mike, Pat, Frank, Joe and Dominic; a grandson, Kevin Heitzenrater; and a son-in-law, Robert Heitzenrater.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 9 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 21, 2012.

Arrangements are incomplete.

Interment will be in Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions, in memory of Mrs. Dubensky, may be made to the donor's choice.
