Barbara Lucille (Bell) Heitzenrater, 83

Barbara Lucille (Bell) Heitzenrater, 83, of Punxsutawney, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.

She was born March 15, 1929, in Potter County, a daughter of the late Walter D. Lightner and Marian Bell.

On Jan. 22, 1948, she married Ray Curry Heitzenrater.

He preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1988.

She attended the First Assembly of God Church and really loved going to church.

She enjoyed cooking at holiday times and being with her family and grandchildren.

Barbara was a member of the Moose 954 and Slovak Club.

She really liked to Polka dance.

Surviving relatives include seven children, Edith Elendt of Texas, and Gary Heitzenrater and wife Patricia, Dan Heitzenrater and Cindy Deyarmin, Diane Yates and fiancé Doug Scott, Phillip Heitzenrater and wife Arlene, Robert Heitzenrater and Kenneth Heitzenrater and wife Mary, all of Punxsutawney; 11 grandchildren, Carl Raymond Heitzenrater, Doug Heitzenrater, Melissa Low, Jacalena Fiore, Vincent Fiore, Deidre Martino and husband Cubby, Raylene Heitzenrater, Del Heitzenrater, Michelle Heitzenrater, Amanda Heitzenrater and Tammy Eaves Paige; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Walter Lightner.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Carol Guigure; and a grandson, Robert Joseph Elendt.

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Chris Golembiowski.

Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery, Frostburg.

Memorial donations may be made in Barbara’s memory to the First Assembly of God, Punxsutawney.
