Background, desire to help others make Dr. Alzuhaili a fit at PAH

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Punxsutawney Area Hospital has welcomed a new face as its general surgeon to its Medical Arts Building in Suite 104 at 83 Hillcrest Drive — well, a sort-of new face. Those who have been to the hospital will quickly see that while Dr. Anas Alzuhaili, M.D., is a new face to the position, he's also a very familiar one as well, having worked in the Emergency Room at PAH since 2012.

Alzuhaili attended medical school at Damascus University in Syria and did fellowships in trauma surgery at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Mich., and in transplant surgery at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. So, the road to Punxsutawney has been a long one for him, but the journey started a while back, when he decided that he wanted to be a surgeon.
