B. Joyce Dunmire, 81

B. Joyce Dunmire, 81, Punxsutawney, died Monday, June 13, 2011, at her home in Juneau.

She was born Sept. 9, 1929, in Rossiter, a daughter of the late Eli Blackman and Mary Elizabeth (Tyler) English.

April 10, 1948, she married William Dunmire, who survives.

Mrs. Dunmire was a member of the Chestnut Grove Independent Church and was a member of various vocal groups, including Harmony Four, Joy Bells, the Harmony Trio and Ladies' Ensembles. She sang in choirs and performed countless solo work at weddings, funerals and churches.

She was a lifelong resident of Rossiter and Juneau and was employed at Loree Footwear, Pramco, Rolo, Punxsutawney High School and State Farm Insurance.

Mrs. Dunmire will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, adored grandmother and loyal friend who cherished life and served as an example of remarkable faith, and exceptional love to those around her.

She sang gospel music as far south as Haiti, as far west as Hawaii, as far north as Alaska, and as far east as New York.

In addition to her husband, surviving relatives include two daughters, Cheryl Ruffner and husband Brad of Lake Milton, Ohio, and Lesa Ramirez and husband David of Las Vegas; a son, David W. Dunmire and wife Pam of Punxsutawney; four sisters, Ida Lasley of Winchester, Ind., Nelda Shields of Gaston, Ind., Beverly Weaver of Blairsville, and Jane Bishop of Rossiter; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2011, at the Chestnut Grove Independent Church with Pastor Joe Spack officiating.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Rossiter.
