Avonell Marie Bowser, 88

Avonell Marie Bowser, 88, formerly of Big Run, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010, at Christ the King Manor, DuBois.

She was born June 27, 1922, in Bell Township, a daughter of the late William H. and Emma (Sankey) Bargerstock Buck.

She married Clarence “Pat” Bowser, who preceded her in death Aug. 12, 1996.

Mrs. Bowser was a long- time active member of the St. Phillips United Methodist Church of Big Run. She had been attending the Apostolic Gospel Church, Brookville.

She worked for many years as a waitress at Ruth & Harry’s and later at Bucks restaurant.

Mrs. Bowser enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, crafts and baking bread. She also helped for many years on the Gaskill Township Election Board.

Surviving relatives include a son, Clarence “Jr” Bowser of Big Run; four daughters, Elaine Steiner and husband Joe of Punxsutawney, Linda Wachob and husband Earl of Ridgway, LuAnn Mabie and husband Rick of DuBois, and Susan Andrulonis and husband Barry of DuBois; a sister, Gladys McQuown of Hagerstown, Md.; a brother, Clinton Bargerstock of South Holland, Ill.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kathleen; two sisters, Twila Bowers and Margaret (Peg) Nogacek; a half-brother, Clair Bargerstock; and a half- sister, Rosebelle Kuntz.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at the Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Big Run.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2010, at the funeral home with Elder Rex Slaughter officiating.

Interment will be in Pleasant Hill EUB Cemetery, Gaskill Twp., Jefferson County.
