Arnold L. “Arnie” Trayer, 59

Arnold L. “Arnie” Trayer, 59, Weedville, died Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at DRMC West after a two-year battle with cancer.

He was born July 3, 1952, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late M. LeRoy and Gertrude (Fetterman) Trayer

June 3, 1972, he married Betty J. (Nunamaker), who survives, of Weedville.

Mr. Trayer was a graduate of St. Marys High School Class of 1970.

He worked 40 years at the same St. Marys' manufacturing plant, which carried many names, including Airco Speer, Airco Carbon and CG Graphite, etc.

Methodist by faith, Mr. Trayer was an avid hunter, fisherman, photographer, outdoorsman and NASCAR (Earnhardt) fan.

He enjoyed his time cutting wood with his father and especially his time with his family, children and grandchildren.

He lived all his life in Bennett’s Valley.

In addition to his wife, surviving relatives include his step-mother, Della Mae (Zimmerman) Trayer of Brookville, four children, Michael L. Trayer and wife Candy of Kersey, and Laura Lee Trayer and fiancé Scott A. Watson, Erich M. Trayer and Tarah L. Trayer, all of St. Marys; three grandchildren, Austin M. Trayer, Ryan C. Trayer and Hailey L. Watson; three sisters, Winifred Trayer and partner James Anderson of St. Marys, Donna Winslow and husband James of Caledonia, and Betty Straub and husband Kevin of Byrnedale; two brothers, Robert Trayer and wife Dorothea of Benezette, and Gary Trayer and wife Toi of Thailand; and three step-brothers, Richard Zimmerman and wife Marylyn of Knox Terry Zimmerman of Dover, Del., and Tim Zimmerman and wife Tina of Reynoldsville.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home, Penfield.     

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at the funeral home with Pastor Timothy Rogers and Pastor Mark Meyers officiating.

The family suggests memorials be made to the American Heart Association, the American Lung Association, or to a favorite charity of the donor.
