Anna Mae Hoefer, 73
Anna Mae Hoefer, 73, of DuBois, formerly of Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, at Mulberry Square in Punxsutawney.
Mrs. Hoefer was born in June 1939 to parents Quay M. and Mary Agnes Shields of Covode.
Anna Mae married Louis Hoefer and co-owned Hoefer’s Studio and Camera Shop in Punxsutawney until her husband’s death in December 1973.
Mrs. Hoefer is survived by two daughters, Robin and husband Stanley Hopkins of Rossiter and Judy and husband Robert Vandervort of Reynoldsville; two grandchildren, Kristi and Michael Vandervort, both of Reynoldsville; a sister, Patricia Bartholomew of Sheffield, Pa.; two brothers, James and wife Alice Shields of Covode and Quay M. "Bud" Shields and companion Patricia Trout- man of Crawfordtown. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Anna Mae was preceded in death by her infant sister, Laura Lee Shields.
Anna Mae loved genealogy and volunteered countless hours over the decades to the Historical and Genealogy Societies in Punxsutawney, Brookville, DuBois, Indiana, Clearfield Co, Elk Co., and Blair Co. Her love of genealogy included creation of a ladies' group, which helped Anna Mae gather, prepare and distribute genealogy articles and data to the area historical and genealogy societies.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at the Richard L. Fait Funeral Home in Punxsutawney. The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor John Landry of the Fairview Baptist Church, LaJose, Pa.
Interment will be in the Circle Hill Cemetery, Punxsutawney, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Punxsutawney or DuBois Historical and Genealogy Societies or to the donor’s local historical society.
