American Veterans' Traveling Tribute headed through area today

PUNXSUTAWNEY — The American Veterans’ Traveling Tribute Wall will be traveling through downtown Punxsutawney today.

Residents are asked to please plan on lining the streets for the event.

The escort will leave the DuBois Harley-Davidson shop at 3 p.m. sharp
Wednesday, with the parade traveling through DuBois, Sykesville and Big Run and arriving in Punxsutawney around between 3:45 and 4:15 p.m. from Route 36 at Mary’s Place through town to Rite Aid, up the Route 119 hill to Route 436 and around to Route 36 on the other side of town, completing the parade to the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.

Additionally, Big Run area residents are encouraged to line Main Street as the American Veterans Traveling Tribute and parade passes through town this afternoon.

VFW Post 9044 members will be at the War Memorial building starting at 2 p.m. to hand out flags to wave during the parade.

Bring a lawn chair and join in if at all possible.
