Alys Barr Hivick, 84

Alys Barr Hivick, 84, passed away Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at McKinley Health Center in Brookville.

She was born May 18, 1926, in Hazen, a daughter of the late Clayton and Lydia (Swineford) Barr.

Mrs. Hivick graduated from Brookville Area High School and was a member of the Brookville Presbyterian Church. She worked in the office of Dr. Kenneth Shick for many years and later in the Assessment Office of the Jefferson County Courthouse.

Surviving relatives include a son, Larry H. Smith and wife Vicki Truman Smith of Brookville; a grandson, Nathan Smith and wife Nicole Bianco Smith of Pittsburgh; and a sister, Jane Barr Domres of Brookville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Hudson D. Smith, Jr., and second husband, James E. Hivick; and two sisters, Anna Barr Shorkey and Alberta Barr Luther.

Friends will be received from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, at the McKinney Funeral Home, Brookville. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Darr Briggs officiating.
