Albert D. Raffetto, 93

Albert D. Raffetto, 93, of Pleasant Gap, Pa., passed away on May 18, 2014, at home, surrounded by his family.

He was born on May 5, 1921, in Punxsutawney, to the late Frederick J. Raffetto and Jenny C. Bonini Raffetto.

He graduated in 1939 from Saints Cosmas and Damian High School in Punxsutawney and served in the United States Army during World War II.

In 1942, he married Jean Jordan, who preceded him in death in April 2010.

Albert was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Bellefonte, Pa., and was also a life member of the B.P.O.E., Bellefonte Lodge.

For many years, he owned and operated Raffetto's Restaurant in Punxsutawney. He subsequently worked for Gladieux Corporation as a regional manager supervising several restaurants along the Connecticut Thruway. In 1967, he accepted a position with Pennsylvania State University in food services, a position he held until he retired in 1984.

He is survived by his five children, Mary Ann Christman of State College, Pa.; Albert Joseph (Joe) Raffetto (Victoria) of Elkton, Maryland; Patricia Warrington (William) of Audubon, Pa.; James F. Raffetto of Pleasant Gap, Pa.; and Judith Raffetto of East Norriton, Pa.

He is also survived by two grandchildren, Daniel J. Raffetto (Alyssa) of Boalsburg, Pa., and Anna-Marie Warrington of Audubon, Pa.; one great-grandson, Dominic R. Raffetto of Boalsburg, Pa; and one sister, Frances R. Straitiff of Fort Myers, Florida.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Frederick C. Raffetto and Paul R. Raffetto.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saints Cosmas and Damian Church in Punxsutawney on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at 11 a.m.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Punxsutawney, immediately following.

There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John the Evangelist Church, 134 E. Bishop Street, Bellefonte, PA 16823, or to an animal rescue no-kill shelter group of the donor's choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wetzler Funeral Service, Inc., Bellefonte.
