Agnes M. Piekielek, 90

Agnes M. Piekielek, 90, Punxsutawney, passed away Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010, at DuBois Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Piekielek was born Dec. 22, 1920, in Adrian, a daughter of the late Michael Skarbek and Mary (Sekula) Skarbek.

June 10, 1944, she married John L. Piekielek, who preceded her in death Dec. 13, 2000.

Mrs. Piekielek was a member of the St. Adrian Roman Catholic Church and was devoted to her faith and her loving family. She enjoyed reading and caring for her flower gardens.

Surviving relatives include three sons, William Piekielek and wife Kirsten of PA Furnace, John Piekielek of Hewitt, N.J., and Dan Piekielek of Punxsutawney; a daughter, Mary Louise Roberts and husband Jim of Punxsutawney; five grandchildren, Jessica Piekielek-Sullivan, Nathan Piekielek, Andrew Roberts, Louisa Roberts and Tess E. Roberts; a great-grandchild, Finnian Sullivan; a brother-in-law, Stanley Piekielek and wife Shirley of Punxsutawney; a sister-in-law, Helen Skarbek of Reynoldsville; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Michael Skarbek, Edward Skarbek and Stanley Skarbek; and a sister, Mary Burkett.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the McCabe Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at St. Adrian Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Joseph Riccardo officiating.

Interment will follow at Adrian Anita Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the St. Adrian Roman Catholic Church or the donor’s choice.
