PUNXSUTAWNEY — After a close first half, the Punxsy eighth graders took charge in the second half to post their third victory of the season.

The junior Chucks outscored the Cardinals of DuBois Central Catholic 28-13 in the latter two frames for their 43-26 win.

"We play hard. We come to practice and play hard every day," said Punxsy coach Glenn Good.

"We are learning what we are supposed to do on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court. We rebound well on both ends every game."

The Punxsy scoring was a team effort, led by Patrick Fedigan's eight points.

Ethan Riley netted seven points, and Lucas Burkett added six points.

Tanner Zimmerman and Josh Godo each contributed four points.

Nick Constant downed a triple for three points.

The other Chucks' tallies came on two points each by Jacob Horner, Brady Snyder, Cody Verostic, Drew Maines, and Lucas Ambler.

Jacob Weaver had one foul shot.

DCC led an early offensive struggle 5-4 after the first quarter before Punxy edged ahead 15-13 at the half.

The Chucks saw the scoreboard read 26-16 upon the third-quarter buzzer, which was punctuated by a Fedigan three-point heave from just inside half court.

Punxsy finished the contest by outscoring DCC 17-10 for the 43-26 final score.

Punxsy will travel to Clearfield for a 5:15 p.m. contest Friday afternoon.
