February 1

8 a.m.–6 p.m. - Annual Groundhog Day Art Show, Punxsutawney Art Association, Inc. N. Jefferson St. Social Center All are welcome; cookies & hot cocoa. Local artists show off their talents in many mediums including oils, acrylics, gourd art, groundhogs and much more!

10 a.m. – 6 p.m. - Groundhog Story Walk, Punxsutawney Historical Society, 401 W. Mahoning St. Come enjoy a walk inside while listening to a story and enjoying activities. Free!

10 a.m.–6 p.m. - Bennis House, Punxsutawney Historical Society, 401 W. Mahoning St. Come learn about the history of the town with Punxsutawney’s Family Tree.

10 a.m.–6 p.m. - Lattimer House, Punxsutawney Historical Society, 401 W. Mahoning St. There will be displays from the ethnic cultures of Punxsutawney’s Boom Town era.

10 a.m.–6 p.m. - Highland Invitational Galleries, Punxsutawney Historical Society, 401 W. Mahoning St. Come enjoy different galleries and learn the history of Punxsy.

10 a.m.–8 p.m. - 19th Annual Groundhog Souvenir Sale, Pantall Hotel, 135 E. Mahoning St. “Everything Groundhog” handmade items by over 20 local artists.

10 a.m. – 8 p.m. - Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center, 201 N. Findley St. Have fun discovering the science and folklore of weather through interactive exhibits.

10 a.m.–10 p.m. - Stained Glass Demos, Gilson’s Stained Glass, 101 W. Mahoning St. Free stained glass demos on site. Highlighting various stages of the process with projects large and small.

11 a.m.–8 p.m. - Vendors in the Park, Barclay Square Come enjoy various food & various types of vendors in the park.

11 a.m.–8 p.m. - Chain Saw Carver, Barclay Square Randy Rupert of Wizards Workshop will carve logs into beautiful sculptures. His work is available for purchase.

11 a.m.–8 p.m. - Blacksmith Demo, Barclay Square Come see a local blacksmith artist work on site.

11 a.m. – 1p.m. - Metal Arts Competition, Barclay Square Jeff Tech Students showcase their skills by creating metal sculptures using a weather or groundhog related theme.

11 a.m.–1 p.m. - Groundhog Day Pre-Party, Mahoning Hills Social Center, 19298 Rt 199 N, 724-286-3099 for details.

Noon; 1 p.m.; 2 p.m.; 3 p.m.; 4 p.m. - Phantastic Phil Walking Tours, Barclay Square Enjoy a guided walking tour of more than a dozen of the Phantastic Phil sculptures with information about the project, trivia, and “insider” tid bits. Tour starts at Phil’s Burrow and lasts about 45 minutes. It’s free!

Noon–12:30 p.m., 3 p.m.–3:30 p.m. - Dennie Huber Magician, Celebration Tent, Barclay Square Don’t miss this magical spectacle for all ages! Sponsored by the Punxsutawney Groundhog Festival Committee.

Noon–4 p.m. - Shaggy Mountain Petting Zoo, Barclay Square Fun, wholesome, and educational experience for guests of all ages. Types of Animals: friendly Boer Goats, Scottish Blackface Sheep, several breeds of chicken, ducks and rabbits.

Noon –3 p.m. - Kids Korner, Peterson Room, Punxsuawney Community Center, 220 North Jefferson St. Free event for kids ages 12 and under. Come enjoy crafts regarding Phil, groundhogs, weather and much more!

1 p.m.; 6 p.m. - Scavenger Hunt, meet at the Celebration Tent Barclay Square. Do you enjoy a challenge? Come participate in the scavenger hunt as a single or a group of two. Prizes awarded to the winners. A digital camera or camera phone is required for this scavenger hunt.

1 p.m.–2:30 p.m.; 8 p.m.–9:30 p.m. - Cutting Edge Dueling Pianos, Celebration Tent, Barclay Square Two dueling two baby grand pianos, is an all request show. Anything the audience wants to hear, the players are sure to know. This event is Free!

1 p.m. - Quilt Auction, 201 Woodland Ave Handmade crafts and quilts for more information call Noah Yoder 814-427-2243.

1 p.m.–9 p.m. - Annual Craft Show-n-Sale, Punxsutawney Community Center, 220 N. Jefferson St. Come enjoy many crafts and vendors.

1 p.m.–3 p.m. - S-more Making, Barclay Square Come make & enjoy tasty s-mores. It’s free!

1 p.m.; 2 p.m.; 3 p.m. - Hay Ride Town Tour, beginning at the Punxsutawney Historical and Genealogical Society, 401 W. Mahoning St. Learn about the history of Punxsy while riding through town on a hay wagon. Refreshments to follow.

1:30 p.m. - Judging of the Metal Arts Competition, Barclay Square Come see the winner be announced of the Jeff Tech Metal Art Competition.

2 p.m. – 4 p.m. - Punxsutawney Memorial Library, 301 E. Mahoning St. Come enjoy face painting, baked goods, and hot drinks!

3 p.m.–3:30 p.m. - Groundhog Fun for Kids, Punxsutawney Memorial Library, 301 E. Mahoning St. Enjoy stories by the members of the Punxsutawney Theatre Arts Guilds and easy crafts. Recommended for ages 4 -9. Donations Appreciated.

3 p.m. - “Little Mr. & Miss Groundhog” Crowning, Punxsutawney Weather Discovery Center, 201 N. Findley St. Come see the crowning of the Mr. & Miss Groundhog!

3:30 p.m.–5:30 p.m. - Groundhog Club Members’ Reception, Punxsy Elks, 205 N. Findley St. Must be a member of the Groundhog Club to attend. Join on www.groundhog.org or at the door. Members must request a ticket prior to the event by emailing events@punxsutawney.com. Members will enjoy appetizers, beverages and a meet and greet with the Inner Circle and special guests.

4:30 p.m.–6:30 p.m. - Lounge Lizards, Celebration Tent, Barclay Square Come enjoy great music from this great duet. Free!

5 p.m.; 11 p.m. - Movie “Groundhog Day”, Punxsutawney Community Center, 220 N. Jefferson St. Free to the public.

6 p.m.–Midnight - The Well Coffee House, 301 W. Mahoning Street Live Music, Coffee, Food in a Christian environment. Come back in the morning for breakfast 8 a.m. to noon.

6 p.m. - 9th Annual Chili & Wing Cook-Off, IUP Academy of Culinary Arts, 125 S. Gilpin St. For more info contact: chilipepper01@comcast.com or call 814-249-1086 Doors open at 6, cook-off begins at 6:30 pm. Live music!

7 p.m. - Bruce Walker & Ridin’ Shotgun, Punxsy Moose Club, Route 436 Come phil your night with fun for charity. Live local bands to benefit Punxsy Dash 4 Diabetes and Lisa’s Ladybugs Cancer Patient fund. Open to the public. Admission $10 per person, must be 21.
