Lingenfelter fans 15 as Punxsy completes sweep

Punxsy 11- and 12-year-old All-Star Kylee Lingenfelter delivers a pitch during Punxsy's 5-0 win over Corry Wednesday night in Saegertown at the Section I Tournament. Friday, Lingenfelter fanned 15 in a re-match against Corry in the championship game. Punxsy came out on top, 8-0, and earned a trip to States.

'Comeback Kids': Minor SB All-Stars stay the course

PUNXSUTAWNEY — It was a pitchers' duel in Punxsutawney on Wednesday evening, and if it wasn't for some late action by the Punxsy's bats in the 9- and 10-year-old softball All-Stars game, St. Marys' Brianna Grotzinger would have come out on top. But thanks to a three-run fifth, Punxsy's Kendal Johnston, who pitched a complete game for the home team, earned the win in the 3-1 contest.

After the game, Punxsy head coach Brad Gigliotti was especially proud of his team's resiliency, as the players battled right to the end.

Still rollin': Punxsy wins opener at Sectionals

It was an all-around solid performance for the Punxsy 11- and 12-year-old softball All-Stars Tuesday night in Saegertown, as they opened the tournament with a 5-0 win over the host.

Grace Aikens (pictured here) belted a two-RBI double and pitched two scoreless innings to help her team earn the victory.

Tyger's clutch walk-off double keeps Punxsy Junior All-Stars alive

Jacob Tyger (right) celebrates with his teammates after slugging a clutch walk-off double to award the Punxsy Junior All-Stars the 7-6 eight-inning comeback win Monday night in Punxsy. Tyger went 2-for-5 from the plate with a double, an RBI, three stolen bases and two runs scored. Tyger also picked up the win at the mound for Punxsy, throwing five innings with one strikeout, one walk and one run allowed on five hits.

A banner weekend for Major SB All-Stars

Punxsy's 11- and 12-year-old softball All-Stars "raised the banner," so to speak, as is the common tradition after earning a district title.

Behind a four-run fifth inning, the Punxsy squad sneaked past St. Marys 9-8 to earn the title and a trip to Sectionals.

Ishman fires no-hitter to help Punxsy Major Baseball All-Stars bounce back, 9-0

MT. JEWETT — After suffering through one of the most difficult nights any team could endure, the Punxsy Major Baseball All-Star's Dylan Ishman had the perfect elixir.

Ishman fired a no-hitter to lead Punxsy to a shutout victory, 9-0, over host Smethport/Mt. Jewett in the losers' bracket quarterfinals in Mt. Jewett Friday evening.

Punxsy started slowly, but Ishman was a constant the whole contest.

After a visiting scoreless top of the first, Ishman walked the second Smethport/Mt. Jewett hitter, who would turn out to be the lone base runner against him.

Miners fall to Grays, but strike it big for Lisa's Ladybugs

Miners' shortstop Pete Meterko slugs one of Rossiter's two hits Sunday night.

The Miners were bested, 6-0, by the Brookville Grays during the final game of the 2-day Cancer Awareness Tournament at Shaffer Field.

The Rossiter players donned pink uniforms in support of the event, which raised $4,126 for Lisa's Ladybugs.

Punxsy Major softball All-Stars breeze past Warren into D-X Championship round

June 23, 2013

Kassidy Graham slides across home plate with one of the dozen Punxsy Major softball All-Star team's runs on Sunday afternoon in Warren.

Leading 6-1, Punxsy scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to finish off host Warren, 12-1, by the 10-run rule to advance to Thursday's District X Championship.

It’s time to shine: Punxsy All-Star season underway

The Groundhog Little League’s All-Star season got underway Monday evening in Punxsutawney, and Kylee Lingenfelter was on fire from the circle as the Punxsy 11- and 12-year-old Major League Softball All-Stars earned a 7-0 win over Brookville.

Lingenfelter struck out 11 batters in a row and had just one walk during Monday night's contest.
