Punxsy Major League Baseball All-Stars beat DuBois 7-5

If you mention DuBois around a Punxsy All-Star parent, chances are you'll notice a vein or two pop out of their neck as a rivalry fueled rage builds up inside of them. DuBois has defeated one All-Star team, and knocked out another thus far in an otherwise successful Punxsy All-Star season. They've been the thorn in Punxsy's side, the rain on their parade and the dirty band-aid in their ice-cream.

Boddorf, Burke and Johnson will help make up Penn State DuBois Cross Country Team

DuBOIS – A roster of five runners will make up the Penn State DuBois Men's and Women's Cross Country Team this year.
Runners are currently training for the fall season. Team members include Juliann Boddorf, Matthew Burke and Tamera Anthony, all from Punxsutawney; Micah Shaffer of DuBois, and Austin Hawkins of Philadelphia.
The team members bring a wide variety of athletic experiences and accomplishments to the table.

2014 Spring Sports Outstanding Athletes Named

You voted, and we tallied! The 2014 Outstanding Spring Sports Athletes are Alyssa Reitz and Dakota Thomas. Reitz won with a total of 329 votes, and finished her softball season with the Chucks holding a .364 batting average and boasting 16 hits, eight RBI and 11 runs scored. Dakota Thomas received an impressive 457 votes, and ended his high school baseball season with a .386 batting average, 17 hits, seven RBI and nine runs scored. Congratulations to both of these athletes on all their achievements, and a special thanks to everyone who submitted votes.

Punxsy Legion loses to Indiana, 5-1

The Punxsutawney Sr. Legion team faced off against Indiana Legion at home on Thursday night. Despite a solid defensive performance from both teams, Punxsy lost the game 5-1. Pictured here, Dakota Thomas unleashes a pitch from the mound during Thursday night's game. Thomas pitched five innings for Punxsy.

Punxsy baseball brings home 11th straight D-IX title

Brandi Cooper places seventh at PIAA State Championship, several Punxsy athletes compete

Athletes from Punxsutawney and Brookville competed at the PIAA State Championship track and field meet this Friday. Among the more noteworthy competitors was Brandi Cooper, who placed seventh overall in the pole vault. Check out the full story in Saturday's edition of the Punxsutawney Spirit.

Chucks look to turn the page against Clearfield

A day after the Chucks allowed 11 runs in the fourth inning against Altoona, Punxsy will take the field once again against the Clearfield Bison. While the Bison's record may not show it, they've had a number of one-run losses on the year. The Chucks will look to rebound from their 13-4 loss on Thursday with a win to kick the weekend off right.

Weather haults all sports except tennis

While it may be spring, the winter weather isn't ready to leave. Because of a mix of snow, cold weather and rain, Punxsy was forced to reschedule tennis, baseball and softball this week. The bright spot, however, was that the boys' tennis team was able to take to the courts on Thursday, which provides hope that warmer weather is right around the corner.

Wrestlers to hit the mat for Senior Night....finally

After having its Senior Night delayed multiple times, the Punxsy wrestling team will hit the mat tonight against DuBois, and it will honor its senior wrestlers. The match will be the last team match of the season for the Chucks.
