The Groundhog Little Leagueâ€™s All-Star season got underway Monday evening in Punxsutawney, and Kylee Lingenfelter was on fire from the circle as the Punxsy 11- and 12-year-old Major League Softball All-Stars earned a 7-0 win over Brookville.
Lingenfelter struck out 11 batters in a row and had just one walk during Monday night's contest.

Seniors Jamie Bush and Ty Zimmerman (not pictured) both made their final appearance in a Chucks' uniform during Punxsy's 4-3, 10-inning loss to Upper Moreland in the PIAA AAA semifinals in Scotland, Pa., on Saturday.
From the plate, Bush tallied three hits and Zimmerman smacked a single and scored a run.

Punxsy's Taylor Phillips looks to throw in his first of two top of the second inning catches in right field in Monday's game against Hopewell in St. Marys. Phillips and the Chucks play the Golden Bears of Upper Moreland today at 3 p.m. in the PIAA AAA quarterfinals in Scotland, Pa.

Trailing 4-2 with one out and two opposing runners in scoring position in the bottom of the fifth, Punxsyâ€™s baseball team made a defensive stand in the opening round of the PIAA State Playoffs when left fielder Dakotah Byers hit cut-off man John Matthews, who relayed the ball to catcher Garrett Zimmerman (pictured, left) to tag out Hopewellâ€™s Shane Martin (right) and complete a double play. The Chucks rode the momentum to battle back and score three in the top of the sixth, and Punxsy held on for a 5-4 win, catapulting itself into the next round.
PAHS recently named its seven MVPs for the spring sports season. Punxsy senior Garrett Zimmerman and the rest of his Class of 2013 classmates walked the stage and received their diplomas, marking the end of their academic careers on Friday.
But Monday, Zimmerman and Punxsyâ€™s four other seniors â€” Michael Blose, Jamie Bush, Taylor Phillips and Ty Zimmerman â€” hope to extend their high school athletic careers when they take on Hopewell in the opening round of the PIAA State Championships in St. Marys.
Punxsy Shortstop Chelsea Engeholm and second baseman Mary Sloniger come together to make a catch in recent Punxsy softball action. Today, the Lady Chucks will take to the field against the Lady Dutch of St. Marys, with the winner emerging as the District IX Champion.
