UPDATE: Missing Pine Creek Township woman returns

UPDATE: Police issued a release Tuesday stating that Jenkins had returned.

PINE CREEK TOWNSHIP — Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police are seeking information regarding the whereabouts of a 32-year-old Pine Creek Township woman who was reported missing Monday.

Rebecca Marie Jenkins was last seen leaving her Lutheran Church Road residence in Pine Creek Township at 7:45 p.m. Monday and failed to return home.

Jenkins is 5-feet-6-inches tall and 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

She was driving a black 2007 Hyundai Accent with a Pennsylvania registration.

McCalmont Twp., assisted by various other crews, battles Anita garage fire

Members of McCalmont Township Fire Department responded to a garage fire at 422 Main St. in Anita on Monday afternoon. Various other crews assisted at the scene.

Sign ordinance going back to Planning Commission

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Following a public hearing regarding the proposed new sign ordinance, the members of Punxsutawney Borough Council agreed to send the document back to the Planning Commission for further refinements.

Diane Wehrle, co-owner of Mahoning Valley Milling, was the first to speak regarding the ordinance, saying she believed it was concerning the
sign for her business that she co-owns with her husband, Barney Wehrle.

Police: Pine Creek Twp. woman, 32, missing

PINE CREEK TOWNSHIP — Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police are seeking information regarding the whereabouts of a 32-year-old Pine Creek Township woman who was reported missing Monday.

Sarabelle "Sally" M. Brennan, 92

April 7, 2014

Sarabelle M. Brennan, 92, of Punxsutawney, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, April 7, 2014, from Mulberry Square.

Mrs. Brennan was born July 30, 1921, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Amon F. and Flora Bell Means Mohney.

On Feb. 20, 1945, she married James F. Brennan, who preceded her in death on July 31, 2000.

A member of the First United Methodist Church of Punxsutawney, Mrs. Brennan was a former Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher.

Carmen M. Duttry, 95

April 7, 2014

Carmen M. Duttry, 95, of Punxsutawney, formerly of Curwensville, died on Sunday, April 6, 2014, at the Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.

He was born on Feb. 28, 1919, in Bloomington, a son of the late Franklin and Mae (Swatsworth) Duttry.

After 30 years of service, Mr. Duttry retired from Penelec, where he installed and read meters.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Curwensville, where he served in the capacities of deacon and trustee.

Betty A. Mohney, 83

April 7, 2014

Betty A. Mohney, 83, of Batavia, N.Y., a medical secretary at the former Genesee Memorial Hospital in Batavia prior to her retirement in 1987, died Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Genesee County Nursing Home in Batavia, N.Y.

Mrs. Mohney was born June 1, 1930, in Dora, Pa., a daughter of the late William and Gladys (Delp) Knapp.

Her husband, Guy M. Mohney, died July 19, 2009.

Run/Walk for Someone Special races through Sykesville, raises over $55K for local Arc

SYKESVILLE — After days of rain and miserable weather, the sun finally came out and brought with it warmer temperatures Sunday.

It was the perfect day for a momentous occasion that touches the lives of many — the 35th Annual Run/Walk for Someone Special.

This year’s event raised $55,336 and kicked off Saturday at Sykesville’s Town Hall with a Zumbathon that raised $765.

Sunday, 559 runners — the most ever — showed up to run/walk for a good cause.

David E. McMasters, 66

David E. McMasters, 66, of Punxsutawney, died Saturday, April 5, 2014, at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born May 5, 1947, in Spangler, Pa., the son of Earl R. and Shirley (Hollen) McMasters.

He was married to the former Beverly Peace, who survives.

He was a project manager in the construction industry.

He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

He attended the Punxsutawney Alliance Church.
