Raymond Frederick Dush, 77

April 23, 2012

Raymond Frederick Dush, 77, Brookville, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012, at his home.

He was born Feb. 20, 1935, in Brady Township, Clearfield County, a son of the late Pirl and Ella (Bailor) Dush. 

Aug. 7, 1960, he married Dorothy (Jean) McCracken, who survives, at the Richardsville Baptist Church. 

Penny E. Pearce, 57

Penny E. Pearce, 57, Frostburg, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital.

She was born Nov. 11, 1954, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Jessie Brocious.

She was married to Gary L. Pearce, who survives, of Frostburg.
Mrs. Pearce loved garage sales, flea markets and her cats. She also loved working on the computer.

Chucks' pitching bankrupts Millionaires

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Despite looming rain clouds, Punxsy hosted the Williamsport Millionaires Saturday afternoon, and with a strong combined shutout by starting pitcher Dane Baker and relief pitcher Cory Geer, the Chucks earned a 6-0 victory to close out a successful week against AAAA schools.

Punxsy Fire Department also has water rescue team to respond in emergencies

PUNXSUTAWNEY — As the warmer weather returns, more and more people will be spending time outdoors at lakes and streams where water-related accidents might occur, which is why the Punxsutawney Fire Department has a water rescue team.

The team was formed in 1974, and in the 90s, the boat crew and dive team were combined into the water rescue team, said Matt Powell, dive master for the Punxsutawney Fire Department.

SMICKSBURG — Star Wars, Bob the Builder, the Steelers, Mickey Mouse, Toy Story, Super Mario, Hello Kitty, WWE, Pokemon, pigs, penguins, lions, tigers and bears — oh my! All of these designs have been made into cakes by Jessica Fairman, of Fairman's Cakes.

Just about any idea that can be dreamed up, she can make into a cake.
Five years ago, Fairman decided to take cake designing classes at Michael's in Indiana and discovered she really enjoyed the trade. She said she has always had an interest in art and found her niche when she applied it to sculpting cakes.

Linda M. (Clark) Dubensky, 71, Cranberry Township, formerly of Punxsutawney, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012.

She was the beloved wife of Thomas Dubensky; loving mother of Dona and Russ Sullivan, Sherri and Tom Dubensky, and Belinda Rape and Ken Anderson.

She was the proud grandmother of Christopher and Kim Dubensky, TJ Dubensky, Russell Sullivan, Curt Rape, Felicia Rape, Ashley Sullivan and Paige Rape.

Surviving relatives also include a sister, Sandra Dubensky; and a brother, Robert Clark.

Marguerite A. Huffman, 94

Marguerite A. Huffman, 94, Summerville, died Saturday, April 21, 2012, at McKinley Health Center in Brookville.

She was born April 19, 1918, in Summerville, the daughter of the late Newell and Clara M. (Fye) Haugh.

Dec. 31, 1936, she married Percy F. Huffman, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Huffman graduated from Summerville High School in 1936.

She was a former employee at the Pennsylvania Memorial Home in Brookville. A member of the Summerville Methodist Church, her hobbies included sewing and embroidery.

Marilyn J. Siar, 83

Marilyn J. Siar, 83, Summerville, formerly of Punxsutawney, died Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Jefferson Manor in Brookville.

She was born Jan. 27, 1929, in Knox Dale, a daughter of the late William and Grace (McKnabb) Miller.

Oct. 4, 1947, she married Summers B. Siar, who survives.

Mrs. Siar was a graduate of Brookville High School.

She was a housewife and enjoyed puzzles, sightseeing, flea markets, playing cards and her grandchildren.

She was of the Methodist faith.
