Oscar-winning actor and comic Robin Williams died Monday at 63 of an apparent suicide, the Marin County Sheriff's Office confirmed. This special report aired on KTLA 5 News on Aug. 11, 2014.

Robert Williams Rowland, 87

August 11, 2014

Robert Williams Rowland, 87, of Surprise, Arizona, passed away on Aug. 2, 2014.

Robert was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran who served in the South Pacific.

He was a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology (associate’s degree) and earned a Bachelor of Science from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Bachelor of Science in Distributive Education from Richmond Professional Institute.

Bob spent a career in education and retired as the executive director of the Huntingdon County Area Vocational Technical School.

He was an active member of the American Legion.

Dorothy T. Perry, 99

August 11, 2014

Dorothy T. Perry, 99, of Reynoldsville, died on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and under the direction of Bernard P. Snyder Funeral Home in Reynoldsville.

William A. Caliguire, 86

August 11, 2014

William A. Caliguire, 86, Punxsutawney, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, at home, surrounded by his family.

He was born June 12, 1928, in Covode, a son of the late August and Grace (Paola) Caliguire.

On Oct. 10, 1953, he married Delores R. (Rotolo) Caliguire, who survives.
He served in the U.S. Army as an MP during the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of Ss. Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church of Punxsutawney, where he sang in the choir and served as a Cantor.

He enjoyed gardening, singing and spending time with his grandchildren.

PSP-Punxsy: Three charged with drug possession

August 10, 2014

Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police reported an incident of drug possession on Loree Drive in Rossiter in which three known individuals were charged.

The incident took place on August 7, 2014, at 10:13 p.m.

Police said a known 20-year-old male, a known 21-year-old female and a known 17-year-old male were charged.

Police said the actors were allegedly found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia.

The investigation is ongoing, and charges are pending.

William Caliguire, 86

William Caliguire, 86, Punxsutawney, died on Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, at home.

Arrangements are incomplete and under the direction of the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.

DeLeon hopes to steer kids straight with his message

The Community Heroin Epidemic Awareness and Prevention Night will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday night at the First Church of God, Skyview Drive, Punxsutawney.

Michael DeLeon, director of the documentary film "Kids Are Dying," will be the guest speaker.

Admission is free and refreshments are available. All teens and parents are welcome.

PAHGS hosting History Day Camp for kiddos; will educate on Punxsy’s Native American heritage

PUNXSUTAWNEY — With the start of school sneaking closer and closer, the Punxsutawney Area Historical & Genealogical Society, Inc. (PAHGS) will be holding a History Day Camp titled "Out Of The Woodlands:

Punxsutawney's Native Heritage" from 10 a.m. to noon, Aug. 11-15, to show kids how exciting and fun history can be.

The camp will give kids ages 6 and up a chance to learn about the Native American heritage of Punxsutawney and do a variety of activities.

Two Brookville men arrested in assaults

August 8, 2014

BROOKVILLE — Two Brookville men were arrested over the past week in separate assault incidents.

Donald Guy Shaffer, 64, was charged with aggravated assault Aug. 7, after allegedly assaulting a women with a baseball bat, according to Punxsutawney-based Pennsylvania State Police (PSP).

Another Brookville man, age 52, is accused of allegedly trying to bite an officer, kicking another officer and making terroristic threats toward law enforcement, according to Brookville Borough Police. His name was not released.
