PSP issues attempt to locate notice

Troopers from the Clarion Station of the Pennsylvania State Police are attempting to locate Chaundra L. Alderette, said a release issued to The Spirit by PSP Trooper Jamie LeVier on Friday.

Alderette is a white female, 53 years of age, 5’2” tall, 155 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes. Her last known address is 419 South 5th Ave. Clarion Township Clarion County PA.

Alderette is known to operate a dark blue, 2002 VW Beatle with a PA registration: JRZ6520.

PAHS defends against cancer

PUNXSUTAWNEY — It was a full house Thursday evening, as the Lady Chucks held their second annual Defend Against Cancer basketball fundraiser.

The girls and those in the stands donned purple shirts, a color the Lady Chucks chose because it represents all forms of cancer.

"I'm very proud of all the girls. They all contributed in some way or another," said Jeanine DiPietro, mother of PAHS senior Lady Chucks player Nicole DiPietro.

Elva Jane Cameron, 83

Elva Jane Cameron, 83, of Rossiter, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, at her home.

Mrs. Cameron was born Oct. 26, 1931, in Punxsutawney, a daughter of the late Robert and Elva (McCarty) Mallory.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Cameron.

Elva was a member of the Steffey United Methodist Church.

Her lifelong career was as a bus driver for Cameron Bus Company, and she was the co-owner of Cameron Farms. She was an excellent cook and loved her flowers, gardening and her favorite cats, Pandy, Butterscotch, Muffy and Woody.

Lady Chucks defend home court on Defend Against Cancer Night

On Defend Against Cancer Night at PAHS, the Lady Chucks turned up the defensive pressure to match the evening’s theme en route to a 57-39 victory over DuBois.

Pictured here, Alyssa Reitz (right) and Hope Bridge clamp down on the defensive end in the paint as Anna Horner (back, right) looks to help.

Bridge also had a big night offensively, scoring 22 points.

Elva Jane Cameron, 83, of Rossiter passed away Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, at her home.

Arrangements are incomplete and under the direction of the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

Scanner Alert: Three-vehicle accident, multiple others

SCANNER ALERT: First responders from Punxsutawney Fire Department and McCalmont Township fire companies are responding to a three-vehicle accident at the intersection of Harmony Road and Adrian Road in Young Township.

Members of the Punxsutawney Fire Department are also responding to multiple accidents in the Cloe Area.

Breaking News, Shugars enters Guilty Plea

Wednesday morning, Michael Christopher Shugars,33, was sentenced to 40-80 years in prison after entering a guilty plea, earlier this week to 3rd degree homicide and other related charges associated with the death of Chet Allen Haddow, 33, of Punxsutawney. Rough night for Punxsy varsity sports

The Lady Chucks and Chucks basketball teams, in addition to the wrestling squad, were all in action on Tuesday night in Punxsutawney. Unfortunately for Punxsy, all three fell to their opponents.

Unknown injuries reported in Young Twp. two-vehicle accident

YOUNG TOWNSHIP — Two drivers suffered unknown injuries in a two-vehicle accident that occurred at 1:39 p.m. Tuesday on Route 119, Young Township, near Waltman's Mattress Outlet.

According to reports from the scene and scanner, the female driver of a GMC SUV was traveling on Route 119 and lost control on the slippery road during a brief snow storm and was involved in a collision with a Ford F-150 pickup truck, which caused the GMC to roll over, trapping the driver inside the vehicle.

Rev. E. Earl Anderson, 86

The Rev. E. Earl Anderson, 86, of Indiana, Pa., formerly of Sewickley, Pa., died on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015.

He was born in Kenora, Ontario, Canada, on May 24, 1928, the fifth child of Swedish immigrants Bengt Anderson and Emma Kristina Berguson.

Earl was a respected pastor and community leader. He touched many lives, teaching in a positive, nurturing and oftentimes humorous way.
