On Monday, the girls' elementary basketball tournament held annually at PAHS tipped off with four games — two 4th- and 5th-grade and two 6th-grade. Pictured here are Ryley Casaday and Elliott Ferrent fighting for the ball in the opening tip of the final game of the night.
The tournament continues Tuesday night with four more games, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Pictured here is Punxsy linebacker Blake Bizousky keeping his eye on the ball before intercepting a pass to turn over the Clearfield Bison offense early in the second half of the District 9 Championship game Saturday at DuBois.
The Punxsy defense shut out Clearfield in the second half, but it wasn't enough to overcome a 35-0 halftime deficit, and the Bison cruised to the championship behind a strong running attack.

Punxsy and St. Marys put on a show for all in attendance at the District 9 finals, held in DuBois on Thursday night. The Lady Chucks and Lady Dutch split the first four sets to force a fifth-and-deciding one, then took that one to extra points, as well. Unfortunately for Punxsy, St. Marys earned the title to eliminate Punxsy from the postseason.

Pictured here are members of the Lady Chucks volleyball team celebrating their 3-1 victory over Karns City in the District IX semi-finals. With the win, Punxsy advances to the finals, where it will face St. Marys in a neutral-site match — at DuBois on Thursday.

Punxsy's JV football team had a rough night Monday against Karns City, as the Gremlins coasted to a 41-0 victory.
Punxsy's Jacob Weaver, pictured above, was able to break a few big runs and ended up with almost 50 on the night.
Punxsy's schedule slows down this week, but tonight is highlighted by the volleyball team's opening-round match against Karns City. The Lady Chucks are the top seed, while the Gremlins are the No. 4 seed. The game starts at 6:30 p.m. in Punxsy.
On Friday, the Chucks fell to the undefeated Karns City Gremlins 43-16. Turnovers were a problem for Punxsy, as the Chucks gave Karns City the ball four times.
Next week, the Chucks will play a rare Saturday game at DuBois when they take on the Clearfield Bison for the District IX AAA crown. Kickoff will be at 1 p.m.

This afternoon, Amber Ward (pictured) and the Lady Chucks girls' tennis squad will participate in the opening round of the PIAA State Championship Team Championships, as they take on Indiana — the runner-up out of the WPIAL.
The Punxsy girls' soccer team will also participate in the playoffs tonight, as it opens the District IX Tournament with a semi-finals game against top-seeded Bradford at 5 p.m. in Brockway.
