The Punxsy wrestling teams continues its busiest time of the year, as they'll play host to the Clarion Bobcats tonight at the Punxsutawney Area High School. Prior to varsity competition, the junior high Chucks will take to the mat, as well.
The Punxsy boys' basketball and the Punxsy girls' basketball will take on rival Bradford tonight, as both teams will look for revenge in a rematch of the 2013 D-IX title games. The boys will be at home, while the girls will travel out to Bradford. Both tip times are scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
The Punxsy girls' basketball team will play host to St. Marys tonight, before heading on the road for their next three games. Also in action will be the boys' basketball team, as they'll head to St. Marys to take on the Dutchmen.
After the boys' basketball team traveled to Harmony last night â€” which you can read the full recap of in today's copy of the newspaper â€” the girls' basketball team will play host to Holidaysburg. Varsity tip time is 7:30 p.m.
Both the boys' basketball team and the girls' basketball team took on ECC on Wednesday night. Be sure to grab a copy of The Spirit for full recaps. Tonight, the wrestling team returns to the mat after a nearly two-week hiatus, as they'll travel to Ridgway. The boys' basketball team will also be in action tonight, as they'll travel to Harmony.
Both the boys' and girls' basketball teams will be back in action tonight. The boys will play host to Elk County Catholic at 7:30 p.m., while the girls will travel to ECC. The ninth-grade and JV boys' basketball teams will be in action prior to the varsity game.
With Punxsutawney Area High School being shut down today, the 7th, 8th, 9th, JV and Varsity boys' basketball games have been postponed, as well. The 9th, JV and Varsity games will be made up tomorrow, as Punxsy will play host to Elk County Catholic. The junior high games will be made up on Thursday. Also playing tomorrow will the be the girls' basketball JV and Varsity teams. The Lady Chucks will travel to ECC.

PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” As of late, the Lady Chucks had been struggling from the field in back-to-back games against Brookville and Keystone.
Head Coach Randy Reitz preached the importance of sticking with it, because the shots have to eventually fall.
In Monday's 66-24 win over Clearfield, all of the shots went Punxsy's way.
"I think playing at home with familiar surroundings gave us some confidence," Reitz said. "When you knock down the first two or three jump shots, it's a lot easier to play this game."

You've heard of the "Frozen Tundra of Lambeau Field" in Green Bay, Wisc., but on Tuesday night, it was Jack LaMarca Stadium that held the title.
While the Punxsy Chucks' season came to an end two weeks ago, the girls of Punxsutawney Area High School took to the field in whiteout conditions, as the Jailbreak Juniors battled the Scandalous Seniors for the Annual Powder Puff game.
Both teams fought back and forth, but when neither team could score in overtime, the game was called at 14-14.
