PUNXSUTAWNEY — The Punxsy Chucks' strong effort on the glass Monday night led to a big 60-37 win over the rival Brookville Raiders.
After falling 57-49 to Bradford Friday night, Punxsy head coach Dirk Neal was unsure how his players would respond to face Brookville Monday night.
"It was a real concern with players being players. We broke down the Bradford tape yesterday (Sunday), and addressed some issues to get better," said Neal. "We had a good practice and the guys were upbeat. We wanted to give a good effort and forget about last Friday."
WESTOVER — The temperatures may have been dropping Monday night, but the Lady Chucks' shooting percentage and play on the court was rising.
Punxsy jumped out early and kept building its lead as the game went on to make quick work of host Harmony, 67-22, in Westover.
“The girls played solid for 32 minutes on both ends of the floor,” explained Lady Chucks head coach Randy Reitz. “The kids shot the ball really well inside and outside. We also did a nice job on the break.”
The Lady Chucks (9-6) scored eight of the opening 10 points of the contest and never looked back.
