PUNXSUTAWNEY — As of late, the Lady Chucks had been struggling from the field in back-to-back games against Brookville and Keystone.
Head Coach Randy Reitz preached the importance of sticking with it, because the shots have to eventually fall.
In Monday's 66-24 win over Clearfield, all of the shots went Punxsy's way.
"I think playing at home with familiar surroundings gave us some confidence," Reitz said. "When you knock down the first two or three jump shots, it's a lot easier to play this game."

While the Punxsy Chucks' season came to an end two weeks ago, the girls of Punxsutawney Area High School took to the field in whiteout conditions, as the Jailbreak Juniors battled the Scandalous Seniors for the Annual Powder Puff game.
Both teams fought back and forth, but when neither team could score in overtime, the game was called at 14-14.

ST. MARYS — Last season, after a regular season loss to the Bradford Lady Owls, the Lady Chucks volleyball team got its revenge in the D-IX title game.
This year, after a three-set sweep at Punxsy, it looked as if the same storyline had a chance to play out.
Unfortunately for Punxsy, the Lady Chucks were unable to have a repeat
performance of last year.
Rather, it was Bradford that repeated with another three-set sweep of the Lady Chucks to become the District IX champs.
PUNXSUTAWNEY — Usually, when a first date goes bad, a second one is out of the question.
But not in this case.
See, the last time that Punxsy and Bradford met during the regular season, the Lady Owls volleyball team didn't just beat Punxsy on its home court, they swept Punxsy 3-0.
After the Lady Chucks defeated the Lady Dutch of St. Marys 3-1 (25-17, 25-22, 22-25, 25-16) on Tuesday night, the Lady Chucks will have a shot at redemption on Thursday, when the team travels to St. Marys face Bradford for the District IX title at 6:30 p.m.
PUNXSUTAWNEY — The Punxsy girls' volleyball players will find themselves in a familiar position tonight, as they'll play host to St. Marys for first-round action of District IX volleyball play.
The No. 2 seeded Lady Chucks put together a good enough season to earn a home game against the No. 3 Lady Dutch of St. Marys.

Lady Dutch had an instant classic match in St. Marys last time the two
BROCKWAY — Thirty-four degress with a brisk breeze is the perfect football weather.
But when it comes to a good, old-fashioned futbol game, it's less than ideal.
Regardless of the conditions in Brockway, the boys' soccer team walked away from its first-round playoff match against Clearfield as the 4-1 winner.
"This was cold, but I'll take it," head coach Phil Shenkle said. "I was afraid it was going to be wet and gross. This was perfect."
PUNXSUTAWNEY — On Monday night, the Punxsy boys' soccer team traveled to Clearfield to battle the Bison in its regular season finale.
The Bison left the game with a 2-1 victory, which had no significance when it came to the standings.
If the same thing happens tonight, well, the Chucks go home without a rematch.
Yup, that's right, Punxsy fans.
It's officially playoff time for fall sports, and the boys' soccer team kicks it off with its District IX first-round game against Clearfield.
PUNXSUTAWNEY — Senior Night is a moment that every athlete looks forward to, and a night that every athlete will remember for the rest of his or her life.
When the nine Punxsutawney senior football players — Matt Burkett, Andrew Bullers, Christian Falgout, Jonathan Voss, Clayton Dale, Will Curtis, Josh Schuckers, Jesse Walk, Parker Weaver — took the field to be recognized prior to Friday's game, they had their moment they've been waiting for.
UNXSUTAWNEY — On Thursday night, the Lady Chucks' volleyball team hosted the Lady Raiders of Brookville for their Senior Night.
With their rival in town, and their seniors being honored, the best case scenario for the Lady Chucks would be a three-game shut out of the Lady Raiders.
While they were unable to complete that unreachable task, they did the next best thing.
Punxsy sent off its seniors with a three-game sweep, outscoring the Lady Raiders 75-21 (25-5, 25-10, 25-6) en route to victory.
