Chucks ring in the new year with win

DUBOIS — Entering Tuesday night's contest with Punxsy, DuBois Central Catholic's record was 1-7, but Punxsy head coach Dirk Neal and his squad knew that meant the Cardinals would be gunning for a win to kick off the 2012 calendar year's schedule. The Chucks fought hard to earn a 25-22 halftime lead and outscored DCC 14-6 in the third quarter to open the game up and went on to grab a 50-38 win.

Nittany Lion safety Drew Astorino (left) poses with teammate Devon Still after they both won awards at the Penn State University Football Senior Awards Banquet Dec. 11 at the Penn Stater. Astorino, whose father is a Punxsy local, was presented the Ridge Riley Award for "sportsmanship, scholarship, leadership and friendship." Astorino ended his collegiate career Monday at the TicketCity Bowl, during which Penn State fell 30-14.
