PUNXSUTAWNEY â€“ After not being able to capitalize on an energized start, Punxsy saw DuBois Central ease past it for the 5-0 girlsâ€™ soccer victory Thursday in Punxsutawney.
â€śWe let them (DCC) get into a rhythm and we got out of ours,â€ť said Lady Chucks coach Kevin Hughes.
The Lady Chucks started out strong with a lot of energy and were taking the game to the Lady Cardinals but could not capitalize on the charge.
DCC reversed the fortune and were able to find the net four times in the opening 40 minutes of action for a 4-0 intermission lead.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” After suffering the first defeat to Brookville in six years earlier this season, the Punxsy boys' golfers prevailed over Brookville to avenge the loss, 178-187 on the Punxsutawney Country Club's front nine.
The Raiders took the first meeting on Aug. 22nd in Brookville by five strokes, 167-172.
The two rivals saw their top golfers tie for the best round. Punxsy's Mike Blose and Brookville's Jack Huggins both shot a 41 for the par-37 course.

BROOKVILLE â€” The 7th grade Lady Chucks' basketball team improved its record to 3-0 with an impressive 29-8 win over rival Brookville Lady Raiders Tuesday night.
"It was a team effort, we were looking for everybody and looking for the open girl. With this team it doesn't matter who scores, they're always looking to find the other person," said Punxsy coach Darrin Kriebel.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” In her first home match at the helm, Punxsy volleyball coach Heather Good could not be more pleased with her team. Her Lady Chucks swept past the rival DuBois Lady Beavers, 3-0, by scores of 25-22, 25-23 and 25-18 Tuesday night in Punxsutawney.
"I was happy we won our first home match," said Good afterwards. "It is a great feeling again to play like this in front of our home crowd for the first time and beat a team in three games."
PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” After being tied at a goal apiece at intermission, DuBois blistered the Punxsy net for four goals in the first 13 minutes and six during the second period to rout the Punxsy girls' soccer team, 7-1.
The Lady Chucks (1-3) received their lone score of the day in the first half. Emily Horner chipped a shot over the Lady Beavers goalie into the net off a Kara Hollis assist. Punxsy net minder Allison Fye posted 13 saves in goal for the game.
REDBANK â€” One week after the tough loss to rival Punxsy, the Brookville Raiders (1-1) bounced back to claim a 22-13 victory over the Redbank Valley Bulldogs (0-2) Friday night.
After an early first quarter touchdown, the Raiders' defense held strong and allowed only one more touchdown the rest of the contest.
"They really adjusted on the fly. Their short passing game was dangerous, but we had a little bit of pressure and we flew to the ball; and we did a lot better job after the first series or two," said Raiders head coach Chris Dworek.
RIMERSBURG â€“ Even with an hour-long lightning strike delay, the Union Knightsâ€™ momentum could not be stopped Friday night.
Brody Shick snatched three interceptions, and Kaden McGregor found the endzone on two runs to sack Punxsy on the gridiron, 21-6.
On the first play after a 14-play, 72-yard Chucks' scoring drive to tie the game 6-6, McGregor took a reverse from his slot position and burst through the defense for a 72-yard touchdown.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” After reclaiming the Route 36 trophy a week ago, the Punxsy Chucks will look to build off the winning momentum in its first road contest of the 2012 gridiron season tonight against the Union Knights.
The Chucks will have their work cut out for them as they will face a veteran Knights squad, who is trying to recapture its past football success as a long time member of the Keystone Shortway Conference.
PUNXSUTAWNEY â€” With the contest tied at halftime, the Punxsy boys' soccer team blitzed Curwensville with three goals in the opening seven minutes of the second half to roll to a 7-2 victory in its home opener.
The Chucks (3-1) received a pair of goals from both senior Ty Zimmerman and junior Brycen Lunger to pace the offense.
Trevor Peace, Kevin Hughes and Tanner Evans chipped in a goal apiece of the seven-goal afternoon.
BROCKWAY â€” For the second day in a row, Audrianna Delacour posted the low medal score and six other Punxsy girls' golfers scored in the 50s to defeat host Brockway, 212-225.
After a 53 on Tuesday, Delacour bettered that score by three for a round of 50 on Wednesday.
"It's great to see Audrianna earn low medalist two days in a row. She's been so consistent and the team has begun to depend on that low score," said Punxsy coach Katie Irwin.
