Dubensky boots Punxsy girls' soccer past Brockway

BROCKWAY — Sports seasons many times have signature wins, and the Punxsy girls' soccer squad hopes Monday night was one of its 2012 moments. Sydney Dubensky booted the game-winner for the Lady Chucks to give them a 2-1 victory over the Lady Rovers of Brockway.

"It was the best game I have seen the them play yet," Punxsy head coach Kevin Hughes said about the match. "We started using what we have been working on in practice, and it showed on the field today."

Lady Chucks down Damsels volleyball

RIMERSBURG — After dropping the first full match of the year, the Lady Chucks ran their win streak to four with a 3-1 road volleyball victory over the Damsels of Union Monday night in Rimersburg.

Punxsy (4-1) came out hot off the bus with a 25-10 first game win before Union was able get its footing.

The Lady Chucks captured the second contest, 25-20, before dropping a tight, 23-25, third game.

The Damsels were unable to keep the momentum as the visitors came back to end the match with a 25-21 win on the fourth affair.

Punxsy boys' XC runs strong at the Bradford Invitational

BRADFORD — The top six Punxsy boys' cross country runners medaled as the team ran a strong race last Saturday at the 9th Annual Bradford Invitational.

The Chucks had a strong showing in fourth place of the 10-team field. Punxsy posted a score of 85 points, just one point behind third placed Kane (84), while Oswayo Valley claimed the top spot of 53 with Northern Potter second with 65.

"Overall, we did a nice job considering none of our runners have been on this course before," said Chucks coach John Smith.
