PUNXSUTAWNEY — When facing a big play, high-powered offense in sports, you have to be able to take a punch, hold your ground and fight back. The Punxsy Chucks will need this type of resilience tonight when facing the DuBois Beavers' potent squad.
“It has been a good week of practice. The players are determined to play well, which makes really makes it enjoyable coaching them,” proclaimed Chucks head coach Alan Nichol. “We will have to be a resilient squad as we will have to be able to come back and focus on our job after DuBois makes a play and take good care of the ball on offense.”
PUNXSUTAWNEY — After splitting the two opening games, Punxsy finished strong to overpower Curwensville in the second two contests for the 3-1 victory Thursday night.
The Lady Chucks came back from a big first game deficit to capture a 25-21 win, only to see the Lady Tide edge the second contest, 22-25. Punxsy came on strong the rest of the night to overpower Curwensville in the deciding next to games, 25-14 and 25-15.
PUNXSUTAWNEY – After not being able to capitalize on an energized start, Punxsy saw DuBois Central ease past it for the 5-0 girls’ soccer victory Thursday in Punxsutawney.
“We let them (DCC) get into a rhythm and we got out of ours,” said Lady Chucks coach Kevin Hughes.
The Lady Chucks started out strong with a lot of energy and were taking the game to the Lady Cardinals but could not capitalize on the charge.
DCC reversed the fortune and were able to find the net four times in the opening 40 minutes of action for a 4-0 intermission lead.
