Early and often: I-Medical pours it on in win

June 20, 2012

PUNXSUTAWNEY — I-Medical scored at least once in five of its six trips to the plate Wednesday evening in Punxsutawney, including five in the first two frames, to cruise to a 10-3 victory over Marion Center in Indiana County Youth League action.

The home squad never trailed in the contest and used strong pitching and timely hitting to pick up its 10 runs on just eight hits.

Punxsy starter Dakotah Byers allowed one runner to reach base in the first inning but still managed to retire the side in order with the help of his catcher, Clayton Dale.

A young man with local ties — Jacob Mahan, who resides in Camarillo, Calif. with parents Dan and Jacqui, but is grandson to Bob and Phyllis Mahan and nephew to Joe Mahan (pictured, right with Jacob), all of Punxsutawney — is playing baseball on the NCAA's largest stage, as he and his nationally-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks are currently playing in the College World Series in Omaha, Neb. Arkansas is 2-0 in the tournament thus far, with their most recent victory coming Monday over South Carolina, 2-1.

LeBron James has proclaimed him-self “King James,” and of late, he has often lived up to the nickname, despite drawing the criticism of — well, of everyone — for his inability to “come through in the clutch.”

Rumor has it, LeBron even has “King James” written on his bicycle — proof positive that sometimes, these celebrities do remember how to be kids.
