May 24, 2012

ROSSITER — In the first of four regular-season rematches scheduled to take place between the two teams that played for the Federation League championship last season — the Rossiter Miners and the DuBois Rockets — the reigning champ held its own, as the Rockets earned a 5-3 victory Thursday evening in Rossiter to improve to 3-0 on the season.

Rossiter starter Brodie Lowmaster pitched a pretty solid game, scattering 10 hits over his seven innings of work, but in the end, it was control problems that cost Lowmaster the victory.

STRATTANVILLE — After winning the District IX Class AA Championship three years in a row, the Brookville Raiders went on a five-year dry spell. That dry spell ended this season.

Thursday night, the Raiders rallied from an early deficit to take the district title, 15-9 over Karns City.

"They wanted the district title, and they've been phenomenal, working together and picking each other up," Raider head coach Kenny Lindermuth said. "It's just a great team atmosphere that we have going on, and it's been an amazing season. Hopefully, we can keep it rolling next week."
