Miners pay respect to fans, begin with win

ROSSITER — Baseball has long been known as America's favorite pastime, and for a long time, the Rossiter Miners have been entertaining their small community and many faithful fans who come from outside the community.

Sunday evening, the Miners opened their Federation League schedule with an Opening Day contest against the Sykesville Senators with a 3-0 victory behind a strong pitching effort from Tommy Bush.

Brookville advances 7 to track and field states

BROOKVILLE — Heading into the District IX Class AA Track and Field Championships Friday afternoon, both Brookville squads knew they were in the hunt to impress, and they did just that.

One Raider and six Lady Raiders advanced to the state championships this weekend.

In addition, the Lady Raiders won the team title with 108 points and avenged a one-point loss to Elk County Catholic in 2010.
