April 8, 2012

ST. MARYS — The Punxsy boys' middle school track team opened its season last Wednesday with its first win over the St. Marys Flying Dutch — 78-72 — in St. Marys.

The meet opened with the 3200-meter relay, which St. Marys claimed for an early 5-0 lead.

The Chucks rebounded with a sweep at 110-meter hurdles, though, to take a 9-5 lead, and while the meet grew close, Punxsy never trailed again.

Ryan Jones took first in the hurdles event with a time of 21.39 seconds.

Derek Cameron (22.30 seconds) and Brendon Stinson (22.9 seconds) completed the Punxsy sweep.
