PUNXSUTAWNEY — On a day aimed at recognizing the contributions of the senior members of the team, Punxsy's girls' track and field squad did pulled out a 98.33-51.67 victory over Redbank Valley Monday in Punxsutawney.
En route to picking up the victory, the Lady Chucks nabbed first place in 14 of the 18 scheduled events.
PUNXSUTAWNEY — On a day chosen to honor its senior members, the Punxsy boys' track team dominated on both sides — 50-13 in the field and 56-31 on the track — to earn a 106-44 victory over the Redbank Valley Bulldogs Monday in Punxsutawney.
Punxsy head coach John Smith was especially pleased with the results in the field.
"We had some really strong showings and some personal bests in the field," Smith said. "We had some sweeps and some very nice improvements in the shot and discus. Brody Morgan had a good javelin throw. We were very pleased with scoring over 50 points there."
CURWENSVILLE — After a long layoff, the Lady Chucks JV softball squad showed no signs of rust Friday when it traveled to Curwensville, putting up an impressive 18 runs in an 18-2, four-inning victory over the Golden Tide.
"This was a quality team effort by everyone," Punxsy head coach Phil Mennitti said. "Every player did their job at the plate by either collecting walks or putting the bats on the ball for RBIs. Coach (Brad) Constantino and I were pleased with their performance tonight on offense and defense."
