PUNXSUTAWNEY — Riding the momentum from an impressive road win against Bradford Tuesday afternoon, the Chucks tennis team picked up another convincing win over the Brockway Rovers Thursday evening in Punxsutawney, 8-1.
"Brockway was 4-2 coming in, and their losses were to DuBois and Elk, so we have a few common losses there," Punxsy head coach Todd Heigley said after the win. "But I expected us to play well at home after coming off Tuesday's confidence booster against Bradford. It was a good win for us."
PUNXSUTAWNEY — Thursday afternoon was a rare occasion where the ninth- and 10th-grade members of the PAHS boys' track team could compete without the pressure of defeating the more-experienced juniors and seniors at the Indiana Ninth- and 10th-grade Invitational Tournament, and Punxsy head coach John Smith said Punxsy had a good showing.
With 10 teams at the tournament — including the Chucks, Indiana, Greensburg-Salem, Ligonier Valley, Latrobe, Altoona, Franklin Regional, Hempfield, Norwin and Calvary Baptist — the Chucks had plenty of solid competiton.
