In dramatic fashion: Chucks rally past Beavers

April 19, 2012

PUNXSUTAWNEY — Trailing the DuBois Beavers 4-2 entering the home half of the sixth inning Wednesday in Punxsutawney, the Chucks knew they needed to make some noise with their bats. And with a bit of help from the Beavers' pitching staff early, Punxsy did just that, putting up five runs in the frame to take a 7-4 lead — one that would hold up for a win.

Punxsy's come-from-behind rally started with one out in the sixth, when relief pitcher Cory Geer was hit by a John Georgino pitch. No. 9 hitter Taylor Phillips followed with a walk, putting runners on first and second.

ONE LAST MEAL TOGETHER AS A TEAM

Wednesday evening, the 2011-12 Punxsy wrestling team gathered one final time for a banquet at the Eagles. The Chucks' senior wrestlers were honored, and the team members and their families shared a catered meal. Pictured here are seniors (from left) Seth Spack, Tyler Titus, Josh Neal and Neko Cappella. Missing from the photo is fellow senior Carl Langley.

The Zak Zone

Last Sunday at church, our pastor asked us to take a few minutes to reflect on the things we're afraid of in a message that drove home the point that allowing our fears to paralyze us is not a healthy way to live.

As I sat there pondering the laundry list of things I fear — or have feared in the past — several fears — both rational and irrational — came to mind.
