'Polished' Beavers squad too much for Chucks

March 29, 2012

DUBOIS — Coming off a convincing win against DuBois Central Catholic Tuesday, the Punxsy boys' tennis team knew it'd have its hands full Thursday against the DuBois Beavers in DuBois, and the Beavers proved to be too much in a 7-2 victory over the Chucks.

"We knew DuBois would be a little more polished, because they were a little more experienced," Punxsy head coach Todd Heigley said after the match.

One thing stood out to Heigley as an area the team could have improved its chances: Being more aggressive on the offensive end.

The Zak Zone

Last week, I wrote about the fact that some things never seem to change, as witnessed at a wiffle ball game in my great-grandmother's backyard.

This week, I'm unfortunately writing about the fact that some things are just bound to change.

Some change, I must admit, is a good thing. But in some sports, it just seems like they're trying to mess with my nostalgic remembrance of the way things ought to be.

One area in which I've noticed a reasonable change this year is in one of my favorite holidays: Opening Day of the Major League Baseball season.
