PUNXSUTAWNEY â For a group of 14 Punxsy area wrestlers, the feat of making the Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling (PJW) Area V tournament last weekend in Clarion was an accomplishment in itself. More impressively, seven of those 14 qualifiers aren't quite finished wrestling yet.
Punxsy was especially successful in a pair of age brackets, with four grapplers advancing to the PJW State Championship Tournament in the 13- and 14-year-old brackets and three in the nine- and 10-year-olds. States will be held Friday and Saturday at the Hershey Park Arena in Hershey.
If there is one thing this fantastically appropriate spring weather gets me in the mood for, it's baseball season.
Since I was a little boy, I have started to feel the itch in mid-February.
Wishing for warmer days, I'd begin to fantasize of home runs and no-hitters, looking forward to the first day of the season, when I could tuck myself under my blankets at night and listen to the Pirates games on lower-than-usual volume so as to not bother my parents while I was supposed to be sleeping.
